　　If you don’t measure it, you can’t control it was one of the key messages to come out of the BPEX Innovation Conference.The theme of the event, held at Stoneleigh Park, was the future of pig feeding and performance data interpretation.

　　“如果你無法衡量不去測量它，你就無法控制它”，這就是BPEX創(chuàng)新大會給出的關(guān)鍵信息之一，是走出BPEX創(chuàng)新大會，本次活動是在麗石公園舉行，其主題是未來養(yǎng)豬和性能數(shù)據(jù)的解讀。

　　In his presentation Hugh Crabtree of Farmex said producing data was easy but it was worth nothing if it could not be interpreted.

　　來自Farmex的休·克拉布特里在他的幻燈片中介紹說，生成數(shù)據(jù)是容易的，如果不對它進(jìn)行解釋，那它是就沒有價(jià)值的。

　　He said: "Data should be turned into knowledge then used to generate profit. Even the most experienced can learn something when they start measuring. "

　　He said there was no need to measure everything but the key elements were temperature, water, energy, feed and growth.

　　"The data must be used to get more things more right more of the time. Do that and the pigs' biology will respond. It is mostly what we do to the pigs that gets in the way which means on-going monitoring and on-going training."

　　His presentation was followed by two from producers who had put the mantra into practice and benefited from it.

　　Harry Heath, farm manager at Whitely Manor Farm in Shropshire, has a 550 sow breeder/finisher unit and 500 acres of cereals.

　　哈利·希思，是懷特利莊園農(nóng)場的什羅普郡農(nóng)場的經(jīng)理，擁有一個(gè)550頭母豬/育肥舍和500英畝的農(nóng)作物土地谷物。

　　He said they had a problem with poor growth in the nursery/grower unit following a restock and started making changes but didn't know which of the changes, if any, were having an effect.

　　He said: "Performance was being measured subjectively and we needed to change to it being based on objectivity. We wanted all the information stored in a single place so we produced a batch card.

　　他說：“以前是通過主觀的觀察來估測豬的生長表現(xiàn)，我們需要改變的是主觀上被測量，以客觀的稱量為基礎(chǔ)基于客觀性，我們希望所有的信息都存儲在一個(gè)地方，為此我們制作了一批次記錄卡。

　　"From that we developed a farm dashboard to check performance against the last 12 months and relayed the information to both the vet and the nutritionist. The net result was a 6kg increase in weight going into finishing."

　　“從那時(shí)起，我們開發(fā)了的一個(gè)農(nóng)場儀表板來檢查過去12個(gè)月豬的生長性能，對過去12個(gè)月，并將這些信息傳遞了相應(yīng)的信息給獸醫(yī)和營養(yǎng)師。最終的結(jié)果是出欄時(shí)達(dá)到了6公斤增加的重量的增重?！?/b>

　　For the future, his aim is automated data capture to spend less time inputting and more time analysing.

　　對于未來將來，他的目標(biāo)是自動化的數(shù)據(jù)采集，以減少數(shù)據(jù)錄入的時(shí)間花更少的時(shí)間輸入，并有花更多的時(shí)間來分析數(shù)據(jù)。

　　The second was Tom Allen of DC and RJ Allen based near Wallingford Oxfordshire, a family pig and arable business.

　　He said they already gathered data but the finishers were performing badly and they couldn't see why. An in-pen weighing platform was purchased which provided a huge amount of data including the number of pigs weighed, the heaviest the lightest and much more.

　　他說，他們已經(jīng)收集到的數(shù)據(jù)，但是育肥階段的生產(chǎn)性能卻很糟糕，并且不知道問題出在哪里。于是我們購買了一套實(shí)時(shí)稱量系統(tǒng)，這套系統(tǒng)提供了大量的數(shù)據(jù)，包括豬的稱重?cái)?shù)量、最重的豬、最輕的豬以及等等更多的信息更一點(diǎn)的數(shù)據(jù)等等。

　　He said: "Half way through the finisher stage growth was tailing off and we were able to see dips in growth in real time. We adjusted the feed curve which resulted in an improvement of 60g a day.

　　他說，在育肥階段進(jìn)行到一半的時(shí)候，生長速開始下降，我們能實(shí)時(shí)的看到。我們調(diào)整了喂料曲線，這使生長速度改善了60g/天

　　"The scales also showed how poor was my selection for slaughter! This forced me into weighing individually every week for the three weeks leading up to slaughter which has resulted in increased sale weight and reduced overweight pigs.

　　“這天秤還展示了我選擇的屠宰方式是如何差，出欄肥豬的方式是多么的糟糕！這使得我不得不在出欄前的三個(gè)星期內(nèi)到每一個(gè)星期對每頭豬單獨(dú)稱重持續(xù)三周到屠宰，這使我在提高出欄體重的同時(shí)又減少了過肥肥豬的數(shù)量從而造成出欄的增重，減少了超重豬。

　　"Although the scales were costly, they helped solve the problem and paid for themselves very quickly."
