對于劃線部分，先說說sump oil。
sump oil--油底殼油
這是汽車發(fā)動機(jī)的油底殼中的廢油，國外有很多畜牧場把這種廢油涂抹在養(yǎng)殖場的木圍欄上，可以防腐、防蟲蛀，木材涂上油底殼油至少可以保持8-10年不腐爛、不被蟲蛀。
可能有養(yǎng)豬者常把sump oil涂在豬身上以防蚊蟲或其它寄生蟲。
興許也有人認(rèn)為混群時(shí)給豬身上涂sump oil能幫助消除豬身上異味、防止打架（待考證）。
作者在這里不主張把sump oil涂在豬體表這種做法，而主張用廁所清新劑或清潔劑來噴涂豬體表面，作者借用"Don't use it unless you want a divorce!"這種詼諧的說法巧妙地表達(dá)了自己的主張。
我覺得這里用的“divorce”也許可以理解為作者使用了英文中“隱喻”的修辭手法。
如果是這樣的話，divorce就可以引申為“混群失敗”或“并群失敗”。

才知道 這篇文章的題目是 Mixing Pigs Without Tears，那這樣就明顯了，既然題目里都用了隱喻的修辭手法，在正文里再次使用隱喻，也就不足為奇了?？磥磉@是該作者的一個(gè)寫作風(fēng)格。一般來說，學(xué)術(shù)性的文章里的是很少使用修辭手法的，但是如果是科普性的文章或是在學(xué)術(shù)性不強(qiáng)的雜志上發(fā)表的文章，還是要求不嚴(yán)格的。
所以，我覺得可以認(rèn)為這里的divorce是使用了隱喻的修辭手法，可以引申為“混群失敗”或“并群失敗”。
