曾經(jīng)有一份真誠(chéng)的愛(ài)情放在我面前，我沒(méi)有珍惜，等我失去的時(shí)候我才后悔莫及，人世間最痛苦的事莫過(guò)于此。你的劍在我的咽喉上割下去吧！不用再猶豫了！如果上天能夠給我一個(gè)再來(lái)一次的機(jī)會(huì)，我會(huì)對(duì)那個(gè)女孩子說(shuō)三個(gè)字：我愛(ài)你。如果非要在這份愛(ài)上加個(gè)期限，我希望是……一萬(wàn)年……

英譯：

Only to find myself regretting when it was too late.
Nothing in the world can be as painful as this.

這是《大話西游》中最經(jīng)典的臺(tái)詞，英譯出自《瘋狂英語(yǔ)》創(chuàng)始人李陽(yáng)之手。表面看出現(xiàn)了復(fù)合句，似乎有些累贅，但是朗讀起來(lái)卻瑯瑯上口。其實(shí)正是那幾個(gè)復(fù)合句體現(xiàn)出了原文的意境。

Once I let a true love slip away before my eyes only to find myself regretting when it is was too late. Nothing in the world can be as painful as this. Just let your sword cut into my throat! Don’t hesitate! If the God would give me another chance I would tell the girl I love her. If our love had to be set a time limit, I wish it would be ten thousand years!

第一句中的…when it was too late這句是表伴隨的狀語(yǔ)從句，而并非時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句（不能理解為“當(dāng)……時(shí)”，而應(yīng)理解為“……而……”）；

最后一句“If our love had to be set a time limit, I wish it would be ten thousand years!”是一種虛擬語(yǔ)氣的用法，表示“要是…….就好了”，if條件狀語(yǔ)從句的時(shí)態(tài)要用一般過(guò)去時(shí)，而后面的主句則應(yīng)為過(guò)去將來(lái)時(shí)。
