EU Pig Prices: Quotations On an Upward Trend
EU - This week, the quotations on the European slaughter pig market continue to go up.
The Danish and Swedish prices did not increase in this current week. Once again, the plus in the Swedish corrected quotation must be attributed to exchange rate changes.
From the other countries, the pig prices are reported to have increased by as much as three to seven cents. Yet, Great Britain’s seven cents corrected increase differs considerably from the quotation as a result of the unfavourable euro-Pound Sterling exchange rate. In all of Euroland, the price increase is said to be a consequence of the weak euro and the related export opportunities which are quite good. The 40-percent tariffs, the payment of which Russia started to demand at the beginning of the year, could thus be compensated by half already. In Germany, the summer weather let people barbecue much more last weekend, thus causing good sales of barbecue meat. With Denmark’s quotation remaining unchanged, Germany outpaced Denmark with regard to prices.
Trend: Good demand for pork made on the part of local slaughter companies as well as the well-running export business could be the decisive factors for price to go on rising this week.
